Difference in Thresholds Between Auditory Brainstem Response Test and Pure Tone Audiometry by Frequency

چکیده
Background and Objectives There is no clear standard for the difference in thresholds of auditory brainstem response (ABR) pure tone audiometry (PTA) when using ABR to evaluate reliability PTA. Therefore, we assessed PTA each frequency. Consequently, present here actual values between two tests that can be used as a reference clinic.Subjects Method We retrospectively results 129 ears. Comparison between auditory steady-state responses and pure-tone audiometry.
BACKGROUND/AIM A more recent method, the auditory steady-state response (ASSR), has become more and more important test method due to difference that was found in previous investigations between hearing thresholds determined by the ASSR and the pure-tone audiometry (PTA). The aim of this study was to evaluate the reliability of the ASSR in determining the frequency specific hearing thresholds b...
متن کاملAdults with auditory neuropathy: comparison of auditory steady-state response and pure-tone audiometry.
BACKGROUND The relation between the auditory steady-state response (ASSR) and behavioral audiometric thresholds requires further clarification in the case of adults with auditory neuropathy/auditory dys-synchrony (AN/AD). PURPOSE The aim of this study was to compare pure-tone audiometric threshold (PTAT) and ASSR in adults with AN/AD. STUDY SAMPLE Sixteen adult participants (32 ears) with A...
متن کاملPure Tone Audiometry
Pure tone audiometry is the standard behavioral assessment of an individual’s hearing. The results of pure tone audiometry are recorded on a chart or form called an audiogram. In most cases a pure tone audiogram is easy to obtain and provides information about peripheral hearing acuity across the frequencies used in speech. It allows for a quick view of how well, or how poorly, an individual ca...

Information on hearing thresholds is not always reliable as differences in these thresholds have been described even for the same species. This may partially be due to different methods used by different labs. A frequently used approach to obtain an estimate of hearing threshold is the electrophysiological recording of auditory brainstem responses (ABR). They are usually recorded under deep ane...
متن کاملComparative study between pure tone audiometry and auditory steady-state responses in normal hearing subjects.
INTRODUCTION Auditory steady-state responses (ASSR) are an important tool to detect objectively frequency-specific hearing thresholds. Pure-tone audiometry is the gold-standard for hearing evaluation, although sometimes it may be inconclusive, especially in children and uncooperative adults. AIM Compare pure tone thresholds (PT) with ASSR thresholds in normal hearing subjects. MATERIALS AND...
